By the locals and for the locals, Hotel de Sal Sumaj Richariy is the only hotel entirely made with salt built and managed by the local community in Bolivia. That is set in a sustainable and community driven development.

Sumaj Richariy is phrase in the local direct meaning good wake-up/morning and good sunrise. We welcome you to stay with us while visiting the Salar de Uyuni. Locating by the edge of the salt pan, we are the closest hotel to the salt flat and stepping out into the salt flat is just 2 mins. Our hotel is designed with colorful Andean charm, art, and furniture. We have an on-site restaurant offering delicious local flavors.

The hotel founder Maria was born and raised up in the community by the salt pan. In the 90s She has the idea to built a hotel in the world’s famous attraction so that the locals could benefit. In October 23rd 2010 her family started the project and it was the first hotel being built in the salt pan. Finally, since 2016 Hotel de Sal Sumaj Richariy has been open.

The hotel gave us a very good surprise. Everything is there to make you feel home, away from home. The gas fire places everywhere sure makes the place feel warm and welcoming. Loved it! By Tim Smith from USA
